Luna is here!

The heartfelt story of a unique friendship set in the gaslight era of style and invention.

Luna. When Rhone, our young protagonist heads to the big city, it’s more than the eye catching styles that cause him to wonder if he’s doing the right thing, but his enrollment in the OPR’s agent academy gets him set him on the right road.

While the little harbor town of Corgy isn’t exactly what he expected, neither was the instant dislike by the mayor, or Rhone’s discovery of pirates. But as an agent, it’s his job to fix problems, and with the help of his unique friend Stone, and Bella, the erstwhile waitress at The common House, he finds a very uplifting method to do exactly that. Whether he survives it or not, is another matter.

Stone: The Adventures of Rhone & Stone, book 1: A great mix of different genres and easy to follow. "Stone" is a young adult, action-adventure, Western, sci-fi, survival story that melds various genres in a seamless way. It is captivating, heartwarming and thought-provoking, and has a satisfying but unexpected ending. The concept of an alien lifeform in the old West has a central theme in the story, however, its version is a bit different than most other similar books. Fans of books like "Ship of Magic" by Robin Hobb and "Temeraire" by Naomi Novik will find this read particularly interesting and entertaining.

Stone: The Adventures of Rhone & Stone, book 1: Interesting Concept Stone is exactly as the name is perceived, yet what an interesting character to create in conjunction with his new traveling companion, Rhone. Speaking through thought to Rhone and thrust into an exorbitantamount of adventure, it's hard not to get caught up in liking these characters. Some of the action takes place in a place called Skragmoore with the very fat and in-charge Commissioner and his nefarious plots. I just produced last year a Western/Paranormal novel of short stories. I've never really read anything like that until then, now I'm seeing a Sci/Fi element to the Western side of story telling. The first I'd seen was a movie called Cowboys and Aliens which was a little far-fetched for my liking, but this kind of plot seems to work. It does have a bit of a Westworld vibe going though when dealing with escape and discovering there's more than meets the eye. Still, talking to Stone starts that off right away. Of course other characters are introduced in the story which comes to a crescendo at the end of the book, but the author did a good job leaving some loose ends untied to introduce the next novel in his series. Worth a look. The cover of the novel is pretty well done and the reading goes faster than I thought it would.

Stone: The Adventures of Rhone & Stone, book 1: Thrilling and adventurous The author is clearly a big fan of the genre, which shows in the subtle ways he borrows and builds. I recognize a familiarity of story while simultaneously being transported into a completely new world. The writing was a breath of fresh air, and the author a new favorite!

Luna, the second book in Strider S.R. Klusman’s YA Rhone and Stone Series, follows Rhone and his alien partner Stone as they train to become agents for the Office of Public Recrimination. Rhone struggles through training with the help of his trusty partner, but a much more difficult test remains – their first assignment.

Aundrea, their boss, sends them to the port town of Corgy without explaining their mission, and it doesn’t take long for Rhone to encounter troubles from shore and sea alike.

As an agent of the OPR, it’s his job solve the town’s problems, the greatest being a rash of pirate attacks on Corgy’s vital ocean-borne trade.

But to fix anything, Rhone will need help.

He meets the beautiful Bella, a waitress at The Common House, and though he’s smitten with her, he’s on a mission, and ends up frustrating her with mixed messages.

Bella responds with a fiery personality, but Rhone finds her passion to be as enthralling as it is unpredictable. She wants to prove that she is as good as any man, and when Rhone comes up with the idea to hunt Corgy’s pirates from the air, Bella has her chance.

Aviation is unknown to this world, but the trio – Rhone, Stone, and Bella – design and create their first prototype they name Bo, a steam filled balloon made from a whale’s bladder. While only a proof-of-concept, Bo doesn’t last long. Soon they’re working to produce a much greater ship to take down the dangerous pirates.

With Rhone learning to sail from Captain Black, Stone provides scientific knowledge, and Bella adds her own knowledge of the materials and resources of Corgy. Together, they turn an awkward balloon into a vessel worthy of the sky, planning to stop the pirates – despite the great danger.

Tense and descriptive action scenes keep readers turning page after page to find if Rhone and Bella will survive their flight in the experimental craft – relying on their own hands and minds.

Klusman’s masterful storytelling takes this second book in the Rhone and Stone series to the next level. Readers who have not read Stone, the first book, will have no problem following this story, but will eagerly go back to join Rhone’s first adventure.

Rhone and Stone make a fabulous team, sharing thoughts and trust as they claw their way out of danger time after time.

This book is a five-star read and a great adventure. Readers will be chomping at the bit for book three!
